* A special thank you to my pal Gastro Chic for allowing me to guest-post my Austin story on her site. And thank you to The Well Heeled Traveler AND Gastro Chic for inspiration, guidance and encouraging me to write and do this blog thing!

* And another big thank you to my dear dear friend Zero over at The Life Raft for giving me the nickname "Marie Fromage" way back when. Nowadays he just calls me "Fromage".

Marie Fromage is a journal about the pursuit of my passions – music, food, CHEESE and travel. I’m often asked for restaurant recommendations, recipes, how-to-cook something,
along with “tell me all about your trip” and “heard any good music lately?” so I’ll be sharing all of that and more.

Who am I, anyway?

I’ve spent the bulk of my adult life pursuing a singing career. That was THE PLAN. However, life had other ideas and distractions in store,
so I have also found myself in unplanned but thoroughly interesting jobs and experiences.

See the links "Chef MC" and "My Music" in the right column for detailed information.

But in a nutshell, I haved lived many lives. I...

- Grew-up in NJ and currently live, work & play in New York City.

- I’m a professional singer (semi-retired but still gig once in a while).

- Have a culinary degree from The French Culinary Institute and have worked approximately 8 years in the food service industry as a caterer, student line cook at restaurant L'Ecole, gourmet cheese and food shop manager & waitron.

- Have a B.F.A. in Theater from The Catholic University of America in Washington, DC.

- Studied for two years at The National Shakespeare Conservatory in NYC (which has since closed).

- Have worked in media & public relations for 10 years.

- Hosted daily live radio and web TV reports of stock market activity for The American Stock Exchange.

- Was, once upon a time, a costume designer. The finale of that career was a special Halloween costume feature in Cosmopolitan Magazine.

- For a time (mainly while I was in cooking school at night), I supported myself by starting my own freelance personal assistant/organizer business.

- Love to travel and I hit the road whenever time and funds allow.
